As road conditions are anticipated to worsen overnight and due to the previously scheduled early dismissal days, WCPS will hold virtual learning days on January 23rd and 24th. Students should log-on to Schoology according to their regular schedule. All afterschool, evening, and Adult Education classes are cancelled. SCHOOLOGY Quick Tips: - Schoology can be accessed at https://worcesterk12.schoology.com/ - All students should log-in to Schoology at their regular reporting time. Middle and high school students will follow their regular schedules, and elementary students should log in to their homeroom for more information from their teacher. - Don't know your child's log-in for Schoology? Reach out to your child's school, or use our HelpDesk (https://worcesterk12help.zendesk.com/) to request the credentials. VIRTUAL LEARNING Quick Facts: - Please note that no student will be penalized for not being able to access remote learning. Students will have five (5) days after a return to in-person learning to complete any assigned work; completing that work will count for their attendance on the virtual day. - View the full Virtual Learning Plan at https://www.worcesterk12.org/page/virtual-day-instruction

We are thrilled to welcome students to week 2 of our programs!! This week, we will meet on Tuesday and Wednesday due to the 1/2 days. For the remainder of the session, I will be highlighting one of our fabulous groups. Today, we highlight and thank the leaders of Sew Creative. Mrs. Browne our 5th grade ELA teacher, Mrs. Dennis our Community School Liaison, and Mrs. Barb Barga our community partner from the University of Maryland 4-H Program led this group. Students are working to plan, design, and create hats during their first session.

Attention WCPS families: As temperatures remain low, WCPS wants to remind our students and their families to be safe near bodies of water that form ice this time of year. Remember, the ice on ponds, storm water retaining areas, and canals is never strong enough to allow any human to walk on them. Keep the below safety tips in mind for winter water safety. • Do not walk, skate, or play on frozen bodies of water. A good rule to follow is there is no such thing as a sate thickness of ice in our area. • Keep pets and children away from ice-covered bodies of water. Animals are particularly at risk of falling through thin ice. • Educate children. Tell kids about the dangers of playing near frozen bodies of water and reinforce the importance of never venturing out on the ice. • Report dangerous conditions. If you see anyone venturing onto the ice, immediately call 91l and inform local authorities.
