Louis Daniel Armstrong, nicknamed "Satchmo", "Satch", and "Pops", was an American trumpeter and vocalist. He was among the most influential figures in jazz. His career spanned five decades. He is well known for his song "What A Wonderful World".

Tomorrow begins our 6th grade Penny Wars Service Project! 6th graders, bring in your silver coins to knock other Math teachers out of the race! Put pennies and paper bills in your own Math teacher's jar to keep your teacher in the lead! All proceeds will be donated to the Worcester Co Humane Society. We will be collecting until Friday, February 28th.

Harriet Tubman was born into slavery in 1822, and later escaped from Dorchester County, Maryland to Philadelphia where she lived as a freewoman. Harriet was born with the name of Araminta Ross and they lovingly called her "Minty". Later in life, Tubman founded the Home for Aged & Indigent Negroes and she continued to support women’s rights.

James Cleveland "Jesse" Owens was an American track and field athlete. He was born on September 12, 1913 in Oakville, AL. Jesse won four gold medals at the 1936 Olympic Games. He specialized in the sprints and the long jump. He was called "an astonishingly gifted athlete".
